Teachers' research rooms
Each instuctor utilizes one research room. The research room has basic furniture and equipment such as a personal computer with Internet access, telephone, desk and chair, cabinet, et cetera, for the use of teaching and research, to meet the multifaceted needs of the teachers.
The culture classroom
This classroom was established in 1996. Many collections of traditional Japanese folk art, costumes and accessories, and utensils were used in decorating this classroom. These are not only useful in providing actual conversation practice, but act as Japanese culture live teaching materials. This department attaches great significance and importance to culture in language learning.
The room is decorated in Japanese style (tatami mats, floorboards, Japanese style kitchen). There are also traditional cultural objects, vases, tea-sets, summer and winter kimono with waistbands and geta, totalling ten pieces.
In 2018, sponsored by the fellow Sado (Japanese tea ceremony) enthusiasts in Taiwan, the culture classroom was modified, building a space based on the standard of a Sado room. Sado is considered the best introduction to the Japanese culture for Japanese-major students for studying and experience that culture. The targets of the Sado teaching are not just Japanese learners. Those who are not learning Japanese can also increase their knowledge of the Japanese culture through this experience and practice. At first, the practice of the Japanese culture education was positioned as an auxiliary tool for Japanese learning. However, in the process, it has already become an independent issue of the Japanese culture education instead of an auxiliary tool.
